The Knife Angel August 2019

TheBritish Ironwork Centre, working with artist Alfie Bradley, created the remarkable Knife Angel sculpture, using knives handed into all 43 UK Police Constabularies. The weapons were used to build the 27ft Angel, with wings created from the surrendered blades. Some of the blades are inscribed with the names of a loved one, lost to the numerous families who supported the project, as a poignant reminder of the devastating impact of Knife Crime within our communities.

The Knife Angel, also known as the National Monument Against Violence and Aggression, has been touring the country to raise awareness, standing tall in Middlesbrough’s Centre Square from Tuesday 6th August to Monday 2nd September. Wewere proud to take a shared responsibility in promoting the issues raised by Knife Crime, encouraging the #knifefree message and in enabling those affected by knife crime to have their voices heard and their questions answered of those responsible for having caused harm.

Victim services are here to support anyone sadly affected by knife crime.
